I want to take this opportunity to thank Doug Valery for all of his hard work and managing all league email correspondence. He spent a lot of time over the past couple years keeping us informed with his email updates. now that we have the website, Doug won't have to devote as much time to this and it will free him up to do his real job (I'm sure Bert will be happy!)

01-02-2017 -- Madeira Beach Softball League
Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 3rd at 8:30 AM there will be a meeting of the IRB team that will play in the Madeira Beach Winter league.
There will be a pickup game or two including players from other teams.
There is no cost involved as the Sons of Beaches have reserved the Madeira Beach Field for all.
Starting next Tuesday, Jan 10th the Madeira Beach League will commence.

10-28-2016 - PICK UP GAMES
Pick up games will be scheduled during Thanksgiving week and the following week (Monday November 21, 2016 through December 2, 2016). There are two regular season make up games that will be played during this time as well. Check with your team managers about the pickup games if you want to stay active during the holiday break.
Don't Forget - We will have our regular Sunday morning pick-up games at 10:00 AM.

A Largo man has made it his mission to reunite a perfectly folded American Flag with its rightful owner.

If you think this could be yours, he's encouraging the owner to reach out to him
Ted Froberg found the flag on the side of an overpass while driving on U.S. 19 in Clearwater Saturday.
"Immediately I knew what it was because I saw white stars on a blue field, and I thought, 'could that really be a flag?'" Froberg said.
Froberg said the flag brought back old memories.
"It brings me back to when I was 11 years old and my father had passed away and his casket was draped with a flag," said Froberg. "I remember the honor guard or American Legion folding it like that and presenting it to my mother. I still have that flag and it means a lot to me. I thought it probably means a lot to somebody else."
Froberg hasn’t unfolded the flag out of respect and knows nothing about where it came from. He's made it his mission to find the owner. His Facebook post has gone viral, with 10,000 shares and counting.
"I'm just thrilled to death that people are coming together all over this country for the right thing to do," he said.
"It shouldn't be lying on the side of the road and if it was, even if the chances are one percent that it had draped somebody's casket and belonged to a family, that's worth finding the owner," Froberg said.
Froberg doesn’t want to give exact details of where he found the flag because he doesn’t want it to end up in the wrong hands. If you know anything about whom it may belong to you can find him on Facebook or reach out to Bay News 9.

in front of a capacity crowd of 6,342 fans.

08/14/2016 - IRB Traveling Team - email from Al
Hello fellow Indian Rockers.
Around 1 month ago we traveled to Hoyt Field the Home of the Gulfport Boomerangs and although we played well we ended up on the short end of the scoreboard.
Today we returned to the scene of the crime and avenged that loss. In fact… we spanked them 17 – 0, You read that correct a big fat goose egg… in a nine inning game!
Afterwards, many players from both teams went to O’Maddy’s in Gulfport and we all represented very well with the food and drinks. J
We plan on returning to Hoyt Field in about 1 month for a rubber match.
Thanks to Earl Wesson for orchestrating this successful field trip, Scott for bringing the Bagels and Joe for throwing out the Ceremonial first Pitch!
Congratulations to all my teammates for a flawless performance.

* Crabby Bill's for their generous donation to cover the cost of the cool jerseys for everyone.
* IRB Mayor RB Johnson and City Manager Greg Mims for performing the ceremonial first pitch.
It was flawlessly executed
* The Umpiring crew led by Larry Krutsinger at the plate, Jeff Petracco at 1st base, Paul Stanley at 2nd base and Scott Allen at 3rd.
Great job guys. You kept the game moving, made all the right calls, and eliminated arguments.
* The Video & Picture crew of Dino Raptis down on the field, Ted Froberg shooting from on top of the dugouts and Shane Yuill operating his drone. I can't wait to see how all the video and pictures come out.
* The Broadcast crew with Bobby Florio handling all the annoncements and Jimmy Jeswald handling the scoreboard. Great job guys. There may be a future for you with ESPN.
* Doug Valery for arranging to have BayNews 9 out on the field for pictures, video and some interviews.
That just might get us some new players to join the league.
* The Grounds crew of Mike Tyson, Bert Valery, Guy Coreno and Sandy Sullivan. Great job guys. The field never looked better.
* The Bat-Girl team of Carolyn Shuey and Kathy Raptis. They both have a bright future in the Big Leagues. They'll be practicing all year so they'll be even better next year.
* Last, but not least, Mark Moston from Moston's Business & Sporting Apparel for designing and printing the player jerseys. The jerseys looked great.

Congratulations to the Gold Team !
Gold Team held on to win the game after Green Team, down 7 runs, fired up a 7th inning two out rally to score 6 runs to cut the deficit to one run with bases loaded. A fly ball deep to centerfield was caught for the 3rd out to end the Green Team's hope for a miracle win.
